There was also some great opportunities for teaching about Arctic animals, habitats and travel. That illustration on the first page grabbed me, it was so beautiful! Tbh all of them were gorgeous but the ones that were set in evening took the biscuit. I know a book’s illustrations probably aren’t the first thing I should mention in a review but it was just so beautiful. Wilf was a wolf cub who wanted to grow up soon.

I ordered this book for my son Cedar during his Scholastic book fair. Cedar loves wolves so I thought he would enjoy it. We both appreciated the beautiful illustrations on every page. It is so engaging and the art is so expressive, it feels like watching a movie! The highlight is the illustrations featuring Aurora Borealis. Another bonus is the story features other animals like a narwhal, seal and arctic fox!

Luckily, lots of other animals help him out so he discovers that he isn't truly alone after all. I wasn’t always charmed with the tiny wolf, I just don’t like characters with a too big of an ego, I prefer my characters awesome but humble. Still, I did think he was adorable and very cute. Plus, if he has learned anything from this lesson, I am sure he will become a great leader of a pack one day.

Having the wolf pack just walk off not even noticing they were leaving the pup behind is unforgivable to a wolf-lover such as myself. This message of kindness and friendship is told in rhyme, with beautiful use of language. The book has a rich vocabulary which is complemented by amazing illustrations. We loved the colour and detail in these, especially depicting the scenery and landscape of the arctic setting. The Lion Inside is one of our favourite books.

Be aware the story is told in rhyme, which is honestly not my favorite kind. Sometimes my son doesn't respond or pay attention to rhyming stories, but he did like this one. The story might be distressing for younger readers because it is about a young wolf who gets separated from his wolf pack family.

The Way Home For Wolf is a fun book with some wonderful rhyming. It also introduces your child to some of the animals of the Arctic. Little Mister H loves pointing out the different animals. Although, he still insists that the narwhal is a whale. The Way Home for Wolf is a good read by Rachel Bright. The activities can be used throughout the week after reading the book.

I will layout a large sheet of paper and support the children as they make a physical map of the story and the different locations the wolf passes through. Such as the mountains, past the polar bear cave, over the icy banks through the blizzard, and more. The students will take turns drawing the settings of these locations until they have created the map. Absolutely adorable, with an important message. A cute little wolf cub named Wilf, wants to lead his den to a new home. He's too young of course but has his own scary adventure. With cooperation from others, it turns out well.

The ending, especially the last page is heartfelt and heartwarming. The Way Home for Wolf tells the tale of a plucky young wolf cub named Wilf. He’s very stubborn and believes he can do everything by himself, even wanting to lead the pack although he is just a young cub! But during his journey, young Wilf gets left behind, finding himself lost and alone in the chill of the arctic night. In his time of need, Wilf comes across a new friend who’s willing to help.. "We are all just a handful of friendships from home".

A clever and easy read with rhyming throughout, this story shows the importance of taking help when it's offered especially when you're lonely or vulnerable. The story itself took me on a emotional rollercoaster but I am super sensitive when it comes to animals in strife, especially those that look like dogs. I love the use of different animals to take you on the journey with Wilf the wolf. Bright’s use of language was so interesting and pulled me in from page one with its vocabulary and amazing alliteration. My teacher-self couldn’t help but think it would be a great one for expanding a class’ vocabulary.

This is a phonics resource that focuses on the beginning of the story. Your class will try to find sounds from phase 3, phase 4 and phase 5.
